Five Steps To Achieve Your Heart's Desire

There's a quote from "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho that I've always been very inspired by:

"When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream."
Did you ever really want something so much -- like to get that big break, or find the perfect home or car -- and then a bunch of coincidences happened that almost literally led you your goal? Maybe you met the right contact at the right time, or saw an ad in a particular website, or took a way home from work different than you usually do?

That's what Coelho is referring to here. Goethe also describes it as thus:

"All sorts of things occur to help one
that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of
unforeseen incidents and meetings and
material assistance which no man
could have dreamed would come his way"*
There are five big keys here in order that something this seemingly miraculous may happen to you:

1. Your goal has to be flush with what you truly want -- not with what you or somebody else thinks you should want.

2. Very specifically define what it is you want. You may want "a fancy car." But what is the color of the car? The make? The year?

3. Be open to both your specific goal being achieved, or having something different come to pass that is just as good and right for you. That might seem to be at odds with step 2, but in the end you have to trust that the Universe knows what's best for you.

4. Be willing to intensely and with all your heart feel that desire -- but not feel it as a "lack," like "oh I don't have this particular job but I want it so badly!" Also, don't "phrase" it like something you will get in the future: "One day I will have this car." You need to feel the sensation and satisfaction of actually having achieved your goal in the present.

5. After doing steps 1-4, just let it go. Don't obsess over it. Just kiss it up to the Universe to take care of.

This has actually really worked for me. I've also really intensely not followed this advice, and my life was far harder (my goals so much further away from me).
